Kaiju No. 8

Childhood friends Kafka Hibino and Mina Ashiro dream of joining the Defense Force to fight monstrous kaijuu threatening Japan. Years later, 32-year-old Kafka has given up on this dream, working instead as a kaijuu cleanup crew member, while Mina has become a successful officer. After a chance encounter with a rogue kaijuu, Kafka saves his coworker Reno Ichikawa but is gravely injured. In the aftermath, Kafka gains the ability to transform into a humanoid kaijuu, dubbed “Kaijuu No. 8.” Determined to use his newfound powers for good, Kafka teams up with Reno to fulfill his old dream and fight alongside Mina in the Defense Force.
